What is the NBDCEP?
The Nevada Construction Education/Business Development Program (NBDCEP) is funded by the Nevada Department of Transportation and administered by Akers and Whitehead Enterprises, Inc. (AWE).  The purpose of the program is to provide classroom training, mentoring programs and “hands-on” technical assistance that will help small companies build capacity to do business with the State of Nevada, especially on federally funded highway construction projects.  The NBDCEP provides three levels of assistance for small businesses, in the following stages:

Curriculum Includes:

·          Best Practices for Small Business Operations

·          Understanding the Bidding/Estimating Process

·          Lien Laws and Public Safety Guidelines

·          How to Prepare for Bonding Approval by Surety Company

·          NBDCEP Graduation

ADVANCED

Curriculum includes:

·          Project Matching by Primes and Subs

·          Evaluating Successful Bids/Proposals

·          Project Selection and Bid/Proposal Preparation (Actual Work)

·          Construction Project Management & Scheduling

·          Capacity-Building Techniques

·          Business Development Program Graduation

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

























Who Should Attend?
NBDCEP is recommended for Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (DBEs) and other small businesses seeking to:

        ·         Start doing business with the State of Nevada

·         Participate in federally funded highway construction projects

        ·         Generate repeat business with the State of Nevada

        ·         Gain capacity to qualify for larger State contracts

        ·         Grow from sub- to prime contracting level
